Thumbs up

Well, I just got home from my first trip to Florida where I went to the Infosport Pro Basketball Official's Combine.

Barry Fishmann from the USBL and Ken Drayton from the WNBA were the evaluators. I recieved some excellent information from them.

The games were mini-games, 20 minutes running time (last 2 minutes stopped), using Pro mechanics. There where over 100 players there for the men's camp and 9 officials. I ended up working about 12 games over the course of 2 days. It was a great expreince and worth the trip down. I'd consider going to it again.

What kind of feedback did you receive? What did they pin-point for you as far as game management, mechanics, and so on?

Sounds like a good trip. Way to go!

Was this an invitation-only camp? If so, how were the officials chosen?

I'm glad it was good. I think this was the camp that crew (tony) said sounded suspicious. Glad it worked out well for you! Congrats.

As with any camp that I have attended they really fill you up with information to the point where your mind could explode. The main focus was on game management and the pro mechanics for the whole group. For me personnally they liked the way I worked. They told my that I'd need to work on my athlectism a little bit (drop a couple of pounds and improve my build, to which I already was aware of and working on). But other then that they thought I had a good grip on the flow of the game and called the ones that needed to be called.

In about 10 to 15 days I should have my written evaulation and video's to review I can share more then.

chuck,
your mind serves you correctly.(that is my yoda quote of the day) ken drayton is a good official, he works SEC(women), and WNBA that i am aware of. in previous posts i downed this camp for any out-of-towners. this camp will not help any one get hired in leagues. take what you learned from this camp and make the best of it.
