Exclamation Little Man on the Court!

Girls Freshman game tonight. Two big schools - fairly competitive, low scoring game. I'm T. Late in third quarter V passing in front court, knocked away by H. Ball goes into the back court. Mad dash for the ball. Four girls running HARD after it.....and out of the corner of my eye I see a young boy maybe 18 months old ON THE COURT GOING AFTER THE BALL! Holy crap!!! He might have won the race to the ball too! TWEEEEEET!

Mom comes out of the stands and retrieves her son - and I mean the court is a good 15 feet from the stands! Wow, mom really lost track of where junior was! My heart was going.

This is the part I questioned myself on. It was a loose ball. Last team posession was V. I gave the ball back to V at POI. Thougths?

Yep, V still had team control. Give it back to them.

Heh, this reminds me of myself just this past Friday!

JV boys game. My wife, kids, and her sister and her husband are there. I'm on the sideline getting ready to hand the ball to a player for a throw-in. All of a sudden I hear, "Daddy, I can blow my whistle like you blow your whistle!" I turn around and my son (will be 4 in a week) is standing there with this little train that he has that is actually a whistle; sh*t eating grin on his face. All the players are standing there dumbfounded and the crowd busts up laughing. My brother in law retrieves my son and I look at the players and all I can think to say is, "Don't worry, he's my kid." We all get a chuckle and go on with the game.

All I could think after that was "Damn, I'm glad it wasn't during a live ball.........."

Sounds familiar. Anybody remember Barry Bonds' son at home plate?

Thankfully, I was able to blow the play dead in time. To tell you the truth, it never occurred to me to try to scoop the young boy up. The collision was not imminent.....

Are you sure it wasn't ChuckElias helping you out? You did say "Little Man on the Court".

As a Giant fan, I've tried to remove that World Series from my memory banks.

Hey, at least you were there. I'm sure M&M (and my brother) would trade places.

I will correct: it was Dusty Baker's son.

Why would I trade places with your brother?

Or, why would he trade places with me?!?

So you're saying nobody remembers Barry Bonds' son at home plate. . .

My bad. Thanks for the reminder.

I'd trade with M&M but since I'm a football umpire, I am more partial to Snicker's. Nothing personal, M&M.
