Gave my first "T" today

Only 8 games in, and already had to "T" a coach.

Coach forgot to put player #35 onto the roster before game. Sure enough, two minutes into quarter, here comes 35 onto the court, table buzzes, and I'm the closest official.

Back In The Saddle Sat Dec 06, 2008 01:09am

You sure this is a T to the coach? ;)

shavano Sat Dec 06, 2008 01:48am

Well, since we're getting technical about a technical...

It is a team technical, but the coach was right there, and said "lemme have it".

He got it...:)

Back In The Saddle Sat Dec 06, 2008 02:39am

Well since he asked so nicely :D

Congratulations. You're not a maiden anymore.

Agree. And they are not to be discussed over adult beverages after the game.

Penalized when they occur, after ten minute time limit. The infraction occurs when the scorer is advised to add to or change the scorebook. The foul must be charged when it occurs and enforced when the ball next becomes live. Once the ball has become live, it is too late to penalize. A maximum of one technical foul per team regardless of the number of infractions for 2a, 3a, 3b, 3c, 4a:

a) A team shall not add a name to the team member list after the ten minute time limit. Team technical foul. When such a player legally enters the court, the player’s name, and number, must be entered into the scorebook.

no way

tell your conference to switch to FIBA rules and you will not have to give out T's anymore for these type of minor errors.

I'll have a great story to tell at the next area meeting though. The receiving coach is one of our association's officers.. :D:p

Serious? I'd have tossed him for it. Then you'd have a story to tell! :D

I'm guessing he didn't call the next day either.

Actually, I gave a T to a coach a few years ago and he *did* call the next day. I called a foul on one of his girls who boxed an opponent about 6 feet back on a weak side rebound. He mouthed off about it and I gave him the T. He called the next day to say that he watched tape of the game and that I was absolutely right.

Say, I've been waiting for that study guide to hit the streets and have been telling partners about it in pregame discussions. Do I have to wait until you make an appearance at Borders on a book tour to grab an autographed first run edition?

Breathless in Chicago

It's not worth it. Too many bad rules, some of them bad enough that they would be enough by themselves.

There are already "bootleg" copies on the street. I have an exclusive agreement with Barnes & Noble, so don't look for me at Borders.

Beware Of Counterfeit Autographs ...

Watch out for counterfeit autographs. My fraternal twin brother, Billy Mac (note space), who often posts on the NFHS forum, will try to fool people into having them think he is me. A real BillyMac autograph is worth the cost of a tall, 12-ounce, Starbucks cup of coffee (plus a $1.70 handling charge). A Billy Mac (note space) autograph isn't worth the price of a cup of coffee.
