NCAA 2-man ALERT!!!

Mark Reischling just injured himself at the 9:28 mark of the first half in the Baylor/Wake Forest game.

They are continuing play with only two officials.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the Lead position and how much they rotate to the strong side.

Thanks for the alert...I wish I had TIVO though so I could go back and watch the game later as well

Nevadaref beat me to this topic. I just turned it on and watched two fish out of water.

Too bad the Wake Forest coach isn't having any compassion for the boys.

They are just acting like 3-person -- rotate strong side whenever they normally would, it appears. There are times when both officials are strong side and there are good competitive matchups (apparently) unwatched.

I like to go strong side in 2-person myself, but not this much.

Fast break foul, lead called, had to be a guess. Was straight across from the play, tough call.

Here's one from the late 80s:

About 5:30 left in the second half, ball in the corner, trail goes from the strong side to the weak side in the front court during a live ball. The Cadillac lives!

Rich:

It won't live for very much longer if the Big 3 don't get their bailout money. :D

Wasn't Baylor one of the teams in the quintuple OT game last year where the entire second half and OT was officiated by 2 officials?

I was at a NC2A-W college camp this pass year and they ran two man on a couple of the courts just in case that type of situation happened during the regular season.

I know which playing you're speaking about and I thought the same thing. It was a foul from the camera's vantage point but there is no way he saw the foul from his positioning. Either way, it was the right call

When they resumed play after the injury you could here the lead adminstering the free throw say, "We are down to 2 of us...no complaining!"

Go right ahead, it didn't stop them from complaining either. Good Luck.

It doesn't pay to make excuses like this. I can't imagine what benefit it is for those guys to say that. Everyone knows they're down to 2 and what it means.

Besides, I'm in Wisconsin, like you. Hybrid (2.5 person) schedule, probably just like you. When I'm working 2-person, I just do the best I can. I will recognize that we miss the occasional one because we're missing a center here or a well-placed trail there, but only to my partner.

Not that I won't admit the occasional miss to a coach, but I won't use only having two officials as an excuse.

When they went to a two-person crew in this game, I thought it was interesting that the Trail was on table-side vice opposite the table where he should have been. Did they do this the rest of the game during free throws?
