Pink Whistle Question?

I stumbled on this web site by accident and I think its great. I spent 3 hours reading the posts!! But my question is about the pink whistle. I think thats a great idea to show support about cancer awareness. But my question is there a certain date or week that you use the pink whistle? I would like to do this but I'd like to know the proper dates!! Thanks in adavance for any info!

I'm pretty sure it's in February.

It is something

that your association can decide. The Blow the Whistle on Cancer event is a trademarked event by the Jimmy V Foundation and all funds raised go to the foundation for research. I have worked with Joyce Aschenbrenner from the V foundation in setting up our event here in KY. My association purchased the pink whistles directly from Fox 40 and we have handed them out to members. In return we have asked our officials to donate 1 game check. We will be using the whistles during a two week period in Jan. Our officials are excited to be a part of a larger officiating community that supports cancer awareness.

If you need any other info - you can pm me.

Blow the whistle on cancer

Here in North Jersey (IAABO board 33) we were given a pink and white Fox 40 whistle at our first meeting of the year in September. They are looking for a 25% donation of one game fee during the week of January 26th thru Ferbuary 1st, or whatever you would like to donate.

This fundraiser is being run in conjunction and support of "Suits and Sneakers night" a project put on in association with "Coaches vs Cancer" a cause co-sponsored by the NABC and the American Cancer Society

During that week they would like to see all high school games officiated with either a white (boys) or pink (girls) whistle.

Our area uses blue whistles (boys) and pink whistles (girls).

I use to quote Henry Ford, when talking to young officials: "Your whistle can be any color you want so long as it is black".

But I'd surely make an exception for a good cause.

Good line. Funny, and a history lesson. But is not quite correct. Henry Ford actually offered his Model T in three colors, "Black, black, or black". Not only did he want all of his employees to be able to afford a Model T, he wanted to give them a choice in colors.
