I attended an AAU qualifying tournament in Orlando last time I was down there. I didn't officiate; I went to watch Tony (crew) work the game. They played in the "Milk House" on the grounds of Disney's Wide World of Sports facility. It's a beautiful facility and the games seemed to run pretty close to on-time. Most of the officials I watched were pretty good. Other than that, I can't really offer much insight. Sorry

AAU Girls

The link for all of the girls national tournaments is here. This is both National Championships and the National Invitation Championships (AAU equivalent of NIT!). Regardless of which tournament, it is always a high level of play. These tournaments are scattered around the country, as you will see fom the website.

The boys information may be found at:

The boys tournaments appear to be mainly in Florida and Tennessee.

We have a Girls NIC Qualifier this weekend. I have 2 games tonight, 3 tomorrow morning, and 4 on Sunday. Should be some good basketball on Sunday!

Tony,
Do you work with "your" partners, or is this a whole nother thing and you work with whomever?
And, yes I am envious. We have a team camp coming U.P. in about 3 weeks.

Only if they ask. I don't know if they are in my area. I never did them in Colorado.

You should have come down for the weekend! We should try that next year! Come down, visit the kids, call some ball! :)

No. Neither of my regular HS partners work AAU.

Partner tonight wanted to argue a BC call I made. A1 dribbling in FC. B1 bats ball, A1 bats ball, ball goes in BC, where A1 bats ball again. EZ BC call! He keeps telling me that the ball was loose so you can't have BC.

Then we have the jumper catching the ball. He tries to apply the NF rule but we're playing NCAA. I did convince him on this one.

Next, B1 is yelling "BALL! BALL! BALL!" He stops the game and tells the coach he's not going to allow that. They coach correctly points out that it's not against the rules. My partner says it's unsportmanlike. He's the R and the game was on it's way to being a 50 point blowout, so I let it alone.

Guy works a full varsity schedule. :(

He needs to read this forum. :)

Boy, do I miss my regular parnters! :( :(
