Bogus test questions
I don't know who wrote the questions and made the answer key for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2008 Supervised Basketball Officials' Examination, but I have issues with him/her/them. They have four marked wrong on my test which I am certain are correct. My wife says I am a whining, argumentative sore loser, but I said not to worry, I would consult a jury of my peers, so to speak.
question 25: Indirect technical fouls charged to a head coach are not counted as team fouls and do not count toward the bonus. T or F |
I would say TRUE. Doesn't all team fouls count towards bonus? The first half of the question is false. We know it count towards team total. The second part states do not count toward bonus. This is where I believe it throws you off just a little. The wording would lead you to believe the statement to be false.

True.
Indirects do not count toward team fouls. Of course, you cannot have an indirect without a direct, and the direct does add to the team total. If indirects counted toward the team total, then you would have 2 team fouls every time little Johnny on the end of the bench popped off to the ref and got a T. |

ART. 2 . . . Player-control, team-control and technical fouls are counted as team fouls to reach the bonus. When a technical foul is also charged indirectly to the head coach, it counts only as one team foul.

I thought anybody that knows what an indirect technical is would know the answer to this one, but I said true and, you guessed it.
