NFHS 3 Officials Mechanics Examination Question
Question 53. True or false.
The lead official has three-point try responsibilities from the near sideline corner to the near free-throw line extended. I answered False and the answer key has true? With the reference 3.3.4.B.3. That took me to page 64 of the Officials Manual and diagram 3-22. Though diagram 3-22 does not indicate that the lead has any 3-point responsibilities. So is this a wrong answer or am I reading this wrong? |
NCAA women use that, but the only time Fed does is maybe on a fast break and the trail is not in position to see the 3 or not! I would have to say it's false also!

My question is, "Since when did the NF make a Mechanics test for basketball?"

NCAA Womens Mechanic
This is the womens mechanic in NCAA, it may have been the old FED mechanic about 5 years ago? of course I may be crazy.

Wisconsin has had a 3-person Mechanics test for the last 3 years. It's a NFHS produced test. 100 questions, just like Test I and Test II.
|
I was in the state office (MHSAA(Michigan High school Athletic Association)) yesterday to pick up some more patches for my shirts and there was a stack sitting on the counter and asked if I could have one.

Could anyone scan one and get us a copy, might be some good topics for discussion?

Of the 100 questions, about 30 are related to mechanics. The other 70 are general basketball questions that are so easy, you don't even open the book to answer correctly.

Ref3 -
Can you tell me why there is a Part I and II test? I've called in NY, NC and GA and I have only had to take 1 test (I believe it was Part II). Now I'm in OK and I have to take Parts I and II. How are the tests different? Thanks. |
Test I -- 100 questions from NFHS. In WI, for every official to take.
Test II -- 100 questions from NFHS. In WI, for the top two levels of officials to take. These two levels are the only ones that are elligible for post-season state tournament games. Mechanics test -- 100 questions from NFHS. Same as for Test II. Our State Tournament series is a mixture of 2 and 3 person crews. The first two rounds are done by 2 person crews. The last four rounds are done by 3 person crews. We just went to 3 person crews in the State Tournament about 4 years ago. |
Ref3 - Thanks.
