Talking OT - U.S. vs FEEBLE

If you've been here a while, you know we (meaning me) like to make fun of FIBA rules. I have one of those joke-a-day calendars and today, it has an actual quote from a tourist at the duty-free store in Windsor, Ontario.

Tourist: "How far is it to Toronto from here?"
Store clerk: "About four hours."
Tourist: "Is that in U.S. or Canadian hours?"

I've always wondered if the score in a FIBA game is kept in metric?

There was an experimental reform: every group of three points was a glub; seven glubs were a fawret and five fawrets were a gammick. If a team scored a gammick, one fawret and three glubs (written 1'1''3''') was, of course, the winner. But European people (in the continent, ça va sans dire) were continuously arguing about the maths, so FIBA decided to return to count 1, 2, 3 and so on.

Seriously, now: the score sheet in FIBA is very different from the one used in the USA. I suspect it's even easier to read.

This morning, in the comic strip Mother Goose and Grimm, the bulldog is going to temporarily replace the University of Georgia mascot, UGA, for one week because UGA is ill. Someone from the University tells Grimm the fans like to see the opposing mascots "mix it up a little" and that week they're playing the Fighting Irish. Grimm freaks out and yells, "Fighting Irish? Can't we play some Surrendering French?"

The one-eighth of me that is French says: "Je suis très mécontenté".
