First game of the new season....

Had first 2 JH games of the new season last night. Except for no one (coaches, players, fans) knowing about the new lane positioning rule for free throw shots, things went as smooth as could be expected!

Afterwards, many brown pops were shared by partner and I. Here's to the start of another terrific season! :)

I Don't Like Having To Put Down Tape Myself ...

Did you have the site director put down some floor tape, or did you have to do it yourself (A new mark (2 inches by 8 inches) must be applied to the lane line near the free-throw line to designate the last 3-foot marked lane space.)?

I think most all the gyms in this area still have those marks from years back. ;)

It's important to start the season with only a very light coach tossing regimen, perhaps only one coach per week for the first couple of weeks. Steadily build your base, increasing your ejections, until you can toss at least one coach per game. With a solid base you can begin more rigorous and varied coach tossing training. At this point you'll also want to identify your "one game max," as a benchmark. It's also important to include some speed work. Interval training works well (e.g., one quarter warm up, followed by intervals of tossing two coaches per quarter, interleaved with rest quarters). And once a week, include an endurance workout, start with a set of three games, tossing a coach every game. Work you way up to a six game set tossing a coach per quarter. For added variety, work some fartlek sessions into your schedule, perhaps a set of AAU games where during a normal game you occasionally accelerate, pushing your pace and tossing an entire coaching staff at once.

With patience and proper training, your coach tossing pace will improve, and your "one game max" will shoot through the roof.

:D

Good point. Sad, but true.

Do the marks for the marked lane spaces three feet toward the endline from the blocks have to be removed, or were they never put there, as we may extrapolate from mick's post?

New season??!?! Are the boys' and girls' season still separate? I don't even start my college schedule until November. HS is December around here.

Really? How long has it been since they made the last change? I didn't think it had been that long.
Besides, I know Iowa Girls were using the new lineup rules up until a couple of years ago.
And how many administrators figured this change was coming. We've all seen it coming for years, and we're all blind.

Mick is on the money...no need for tape, but partner and I remembered to check! :D
