NFHS Exam Online

How is your associtian dealing with this? How do your non computer savy officials take the test if they dont have computer access? We will be running into this problem in our area this year.

Find a friend with a computer or go to the library. This is what we are told in regards to postseason availability. Right now our Part I can still sent in; however, this year Part II is going to be online only.

Find a friend with a computer or go to the library. There's no reason anyone shouldn't be able to access a computer. We went to online testing last year and didn't have any problems.

Surprisingly enough, our association hasn't had a problem with this. It seems like people either have access at work or they are going to a library.

_____________

Yes it is, but I'm hearing a lot of guys don't like it and they are thinking about offering the site options again. Don't know if that is right for sure, but that's what I've heard.

You are always going to have people that complain about something. That is what people do when they are unwilling for change or they like what once was. There were people complaining about having to drive to take an exam on a specific day. Now there are people complaining because someone can do something at home or work without spending extra gas. You will never make everyone happy.

Peace

Experience?

Anyone taken the online exam yet?

Our Association is going to it this year for the first time. As is stated in this thread, it doesn't appear access will be an issue for anyone.

I have read the instructions and it looks pretty straight forward - I like the fact that you can mark questions you want to go back and review when your through before submitting.

Question - Is there a time limit? I've heard the two hour rule discussed (as was previously done with the hard copy exam), but know with the online exam you can stop, save, and come back later. I didn't see a time limit discussed in the read ahead. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Our association is using the schools computer lab on the first sunday when it's available! Works out great!

Yes, I took it last week and didn't have any problems.

For Part I, our state doesn't have a time limit. However, we have to submit it by a certain date. This year for Illinois I believe is November 20th.

Our Association offered a similar solution, but no one seemed to need it.

Thanks, we need to have ours submitted by 16 Nov.

You're right. That's how I felt when they did away with the peach baskets.

I'm a VA official also. I set up my account yesterday with no problem. A couple of friends who took the football and/or volleyball exam this Fall had a couple of suggestions when doing the exam - 1) you should flag any question that you aren't completely sure of, and 2) DONT FORGET TO HIT "SAVE" not SUBMIT when leaving with an intent to return to finish the exam.

Is this the same Part I exam we would normally get? Are the questions in random order?

grunewar Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:34pm

We were informed the test is the same/similar as hard copy (looks it on the web too) and the questions are rotated around. So for example if two people would be sitting together in a school taking it, all their questions would be moved around and they would have different question 1, 2, and 3, etc.. While there are numerous different permutations and folks may eventually see the same question later, two folks can't sit next to each other and "assist" each other and take the exact same test.

Yes...and the questions are randomized for each user.

TravelinMan Thu Oct 23, 2008 01:01pm

I have a question about the exams.

When I called in NY, NC and GA, I was required to take only 1 exam. Don't remember whether this was Part I or Part II. Now in Oklahoma, I have to take Part I and Part II. Is OK the norm, i.e., do most states require you to take Part I and II? Why? How are the exams different?

Thanks in advance.

In UT we're required to pass the Part I test in order to get games. Part II is required only to work post season games. The two tests are very similar: 100 T/F questions many of which are poorly written and a few that cause controversy. Here Part I is open book and must be completed by a certain date. Part II is open book, and is normally taken during an association meeting, which effectively limits your time to about 2 hours and normally degrades into open book/open neighbor. So get there early and get a seat at a table with the rule book nerds. ;)

They tried to randomize them here in Kentucky, when the volleyball test took theres they had football, volleyball and all the other fall sports randomized in there, it was hilarious! They worked it out, but all the tests ended up being the same so if a group took them together they were all the same!! That was nice! :)

At last night's rules clinic we were told future exams will have multiple choice questions and may eventually have videos for interpretations..... Based on the videos we've seen posted here and the discussions we've had, I sure hope they're clear cut....if that's possible! ;)

State official even made a comment about the possibility of coaches having to take tests in the future......

IREFU2 Tue Nov 04, 2008 08:37am

They are also talking about decreasing the number of questions as well. Its kind of funny, NCAA test is 35 questions, but high school is 100 questions...go figure???
