Are we the "worst" refs? Family Feud says yes.
 

Watched an episode of "Family Feud" taped in 2006 on GSN. During "fast money" at the end, the question was, "Which sport has the worst referees?" The first person answered "football" which gave their family 25 points. The second person answered "basketball" for 26 points and it was the "number one answer".

Just what we need - more publicity like that. If they asked me that question, I would have answered "game shows". :cool:

All I will say is - how many choices did they "really" have?

I mean, Baseball has umpires and is mainstream America into hockey?

So. it's us and football.....and we narrowly won (or lost). :confused: JMO

Well, it makes sense when you think about it, perception wise....What other sports are mostly constant play like BB, offering more chances of "illegal" actions-which then causes unfair complaints from the offending teams fans?
I dont include soccer due to the "dead"time of a player moving with the ball over the field. Hockey may be closer, but dont they only have 2-3 rules in the book? lol

There is no 'dead' time on a soccer pitch. 22 players keep things plenty 'live' at all times I can assure you.

I agree with you. Good soccer teams don't dribble the ball very much, they pass the ball (kinda like in basketball) - across the field and sometimes back, but always with the goal of moving the ball forward. A LOT OF ACTIVITY, as you point out. Goals are scored by opening up the field, crossing the ball etc. Very few goals scored as a result of dribbling.......

Apparently I am the worst too. I had a 10 year old tell me. Actually, his exact words after I called a foul on him were... "you're killing me, blue!!"

So I t'd the little twerp. Not only for trying to be all "NBA-player-like" puffy and mouthing off, but for getting his officials wrong!! Blue is baseball and softball!! Shiesh! :eek:

I love it when they call you "Blue" on a basketball court. :)
