Chuck, maybe one of the reasons you were selected is how you came across to the evaluators. I have noticed that in your posts, you don't try to convince us that you have all the answers to life (or officiating).
I belive that how you deal with people is just as important as the actual job on the floor. Please do not mistake this as saying that judgement and mechanics are not important. But when two officials both possess good mechanics, the determining factor could be your attitude: showing that you want to learn, that you are open to other people's opinions, hustle etc...

Congrats. Keep us posted.

hoping to see one of his games. Gotta go warm up now

"ONE! TWO! THREE! Hey! Call the 3 seconds!"

I believe I've already disclosed my personal method of counting 3-seconds. :D The problem now is that I have to count it on the defense too. I just KNOW I'm going to screw that up! :(

Chuck, I am assuming that you will probably be working mostly games that are closer to the east coast? There are three teams within a few hours drive of me and I am planning on trying to catch a game or two this season, so probably won't get to personally observe you, unless you're on ESPN2 ;) .

Chuck -- If you were to be on TV, would you know about it ahead of time? YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST LET US KNOW!!! This is not tooting your own horn. It is "setting a good example for those who want to move up." You will be handing down the wisdom and skills that were handed to you. So, LET US KNOW!!!

Chuck's explanation was very accurate regarding the elbow fouls. Congrats on getting hired. The USBL veteran meeting in Florida is this weekend as I will be in attendance.

You will find that the level of player is pretty good. The players will really test you throughout the game, which will be something different than what your used to. Dealing with this, probably will be one of the biggest challenges.
