Basket Interference and Dunking

We know that you can't touch the ball, if the ball above the cylinder with the ring as its base. Dunking is an exception to the rule. My question is, does the exception apply to an ally-oop pass that is caught above the cylinder and subsequently dunked?

Nope, the ball can be legally carried into the cylinder, by rule, but you can't grab it while it's in the cylinder..

Rule 4 Section 22.

Dunk
A dunk occurs when any player gains control of a ball that is neither in the
cylinder nor on the ring and then attempts to drive, force or stuff the ball
through the basket

Legal play as long as the ball wasn't in the cylinder when the player first contacts the ball.

Unless of course you're calling a game under FIBA rules. There is no cylinder principle. Once the ball has struck the ring it's fair game.
