OT: Detroit Red Wings Win Stanley Cup

Cup #11 which ties them with Toronto [who won their last one in black & white]. Congrats.

A week from now the kids in a village in Nicaragua will be wearing "Penguins Stanley Cup" t-shirts... and "Sid the Kid" t-shirts too.

Sid the kid is still a hero, even if they lost. giving kids a free sid the kid shirt is a gift!

Rut!

Are you showing enthusiasm for HOCKEY?

Great job by Detroit. Marc-Andre Fleury notwithstanding, their Game 5 was as dominating a performance as I've ever seen in the playoffs.

That's the Whidden Cup - named after the residence at my alma mater.

I was born down the street from Detroit. You are just seeing a Red Wings fan proud of his team. That is all.

Peace

Just like the Buffalo Bills' dynasty of the early 90s!

Congrats to Detroit. They showed that once again, the veterans defeat the youth. Detroit, I think, is the better team; though if those Pitt youngsters fired on all cylinders, the Cup was theirs. Watch them in the years to come.

Also good showing for the Swedes - captaining the DRW and winning the Conn Smythe. Fitting that Zetterberg scored the CWG. Lidström is likely a HOFer. Back in the day, Detroit was accused of "mortgaging its future" - but now they own Stanley's Castle.

Plus, Detroit has a very cool logo.

I got to meet Bobby Hull once. He was doing a promotion at my Dad's company. He gave us free tickets to a Blackhawks - Bruins game. During the game, his brother Dennis hit a slap shot from just outside his own blue line that went all the way down to the Bruins end wide of the goal and smashed the glass at the end of the rink. I've never seen a shot hit that hard before or since.

His shot was harder than his brother's, but slightly less accurate.
