Hey, it was only one extra step. Some people would say that's progress. :)

The thing is that it would've been a great move if he'd just shot it before the pivot came back down. It was a really nice "up and under" move, but he put the pivot back down.

Is what I underlined some code words for "travel"?

Can't be too hard a code. Only took you 28 minutes to crack it.

I know. I know.

Good grief Snaqs! What in the world did you eat this week (or smoke, maybe)?? You are on the Express Train straight to Jurassic land this week...

That would have been funnier if it didn't take you 34 minutes to come up with it.

Guys - this entire thread is predicated on the misconception that the NBA has a traveling rule. :D

I was pretty sure they did. Weren't several referees charged by the IRS for breaking the NBA's travel rules?

Gotta admit - good one, BITS.

I'm pretty sure there is one, because Garnett just got called for it in the first 2 minutes of Game 2 tonight.

No, it was a "not mugging enough for the camera" violation. :D

Nope. Official signaled traveling after Garnett actually did travel.

Must've been a false start violation. The signals are the same you know.

I cannot argue with this sort of logic.

The game is flowing and both teams are playing. There are times you just have to hold your whistle. The NBA wants highlights!!!!

Then let em play without refs! Heck, they don't call most of the violations or fouls anyhow.....

Mwanr1 Fri May 23, 2008 12:56pm

another reason could be that Delaney is waiting for the Lead to make the call. He probably saw the travel, but holding his whistle because the play is well into L's primary. The L is trained to look upper body and missed the travel. Basket went in... too late to kill the play. Play ON!

Yep, the L will usually not be focussed on travels in this sitch.

Which is why the C/T are and should have taken this right away. I doubt that either was surprised by this travel btw, this is just not a travel that is usually called in this league.

Bingo!

Agreed. The NBE doesn't have refs anymore; they have traffic cops. Keep 'er moving and ignore the little details, like rules.

The NBE....Faaaaaantaaaastic......and no longer bearing any kinda resemblance to basketball.

Jmo...and a heckuva lot of others too, Mr. Stern.

On that particular player....at any time....ever...

Rookies drafted lower than #10 should beware though.
