Playing some pick-up ball recently when the following occurred;

Player attempts a jump shot while I was defending. I was able to block the shot before it left his hands. He came back down still in possesion of the ball. When he landed my hand was no longer on the ball. I called him for travel. He thought it should have just been play on.

The rules I played under as a kid in Australia would indicate that I was correct. If my hand had stayed on the ball when he landed it would have been a jump ball.

Under NF and NCAA rules, if your block prevented him from releasing the shot, it's a held ball, even if he returned to the floor with it. It's not traveling.

FEEBLE rules maybe, and probably are, different.

Bug,
If you don't have a NF Rule Book handy Rule 4 Section 25 Article 2
states:
A held ball occurs when... An opponent places his/her
hand(s) on the ball and prevents an airborne player from throwing the ball or releasing it on a try.
