Hey, I'm heading to my first meeting with a new association (do to a move). Any good advice?

Ignore the annoying grammar guy.

Seriously, my advice is to listen and observe.

I recall something my pappe used to say "It is better to be thought an idiot than open your mouth and prove it!" Always followed up by "It's like looking up a dead horses a$$" Pappe wasn't much for conversation.

i learned to listen, keep my mouth shut, and be humble.

Curious to know why there's a meeting during this time of the yr? :D

As in most things of this sort in life: Listen way more than you talk. Find out who the important people in the group are, and introduce yourself to them. Pay attention to what they have to say. Find out how things are done in your new area, and how you can get in on it. Cream rises, but it takes some time. So find opportunities to show what you can do ASAP. Don't say anything negative about anybody or anything. And don't say a word about how things were done where you came from -- nobody in your new area cares. Good luck. :)
