The casebook play is a delayed penalty for unsporting behavior. I really don't think that you can label a coach requesting a T.O. as being unsporting behavior, unless you also feel that the coach's shouting affected the shooter. And if you thought that, just call the "T". If not, ignore it. Apples and oranges.

You went by the rules and refused a T.O. request because it wasn't made legally. Now you want to go against the rules and grant a T.O. request when there really isn't one being made. Not a good idea imo. Don't make things up just because you're pissed off at a coach. Leave the game-playing to others, like that coach.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges. In the case play, the coach is doing something that is worthy of a T - the ruling states that you just delay calling the technical.

Here, the coach didn't do anything (IMO) that warrants a T, so you just play on.
