A funny thing happened at the meeting last night...

We had our first Board meeting of the new fiscal year for our local kids rec league last night. I was asked to discuss the new NF rule changes. I told everyone that the first rule change was that coaches must now remain in the parking lot during games and were not allowed in the gym. Everyone except one guy laughed. After a moment, he said, "Wait - that's wasn't serious?" At first I thought he was kidding and I was going to give him credit for being funny, but it was apparent he was not kidding. He actually thought I was serious.

Oh yeah, did I mention he's a coach? :D

Sounds like a coach that you will have a lot of fun with during the season.

True story. I was stopped at a traffic light today and the car in front of me had a license plate, CT registration, that read "T-COACH".

Was the car black & white?

The guy has two boys and has coached in our league for five or six years. I've never had any problems with him and I am not aware of any complaints from other officials. He has the right attitude for a rec coach with the emphasis on his players having a good experience. Despite his comment at the meeting, I wish we had a lot more coaches like him, although I must admit, most of our rec league coaches are OK. There's only a very few who suffer from what we call "Pat Riley Complex".
