Newsletter topics

So at my local board's AGM I was asked by the executive to get our newsletter fired up again. Any suggestions to what topics should be included? I've got some ideas but I'm always willing to hear more.

First newsletter should be all the basic information that the veteran's ASSUME everyone on the board knows:
  • Constitution
    By-laws
    Fee's
    Schools covered
    School addresses

How about a topic on the verbal abuse that goes along with our hobbies of officiating and how guys deal with it...

Maybe talk with some guys just finisihing up first year, get their perspective and then get a long timer to give his/hers.

Maybe that's too much for a flyer but a prominent topic we all face each time out on the court/diamond/field.

You need to realize that you've got 2-3 different audiences within an association/board. The 1st and 2nd year guys, maybe 3rd too. They need a solid grounding in the basics. Then you've got your 4-7 year guys. They've got the basics, but need help getting from good official to great official. Then you've got the rest: the great officials, the life tenured officials, the growing old gracefully officials. They're probably just going to line the bird cage with it no matter what you do. ;)

Well that goes without saying. Except for when it gets said.

Dan would call this mean spirited. I wouldn't, but Dan would.
