Question Who finishes top of the league???

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the rules are for determining who finishes first when two teams tie on points?

Is it then based on percentage/goal difference or does it come down to results between the tied teams?

I am VERY anxious to know the answer because my sons team may get duped out of 1st place and result in them playing the wrong team in the semi final tomorrow.

PLEASE help if you can

Most of the time, it will be decided by an arm wrestling contest between the two head coaches (best two out of three). If those result in a draw, then the players with the highest scoring average for each team will compete a best of three series of scissors-paper-rock.

This is easy. Obviously your son's team is the better one and should get first seed.

atoms, this is a refereeing website. We have no idea what your league's rules are for breaking ties in the standings. You need to contact your league's organizing body.

That's why you got the "funny" answer. Nobody here can help you. Sorry.

No thanks necessary.

It's really no waste of time considering this is a basketball officials web site and no one here could possibly answer your question because we have no idea which rule set you use, where you are located, the by-laws of your son's league, or how old he is.

I was serious.

Please, we're trying to eliminate the mean-spirited and dismissive tone to newbies around here. You are not helping!

But your response is not considering the fragile self-image of the other team's players. That might be construed as mean-spirited as well.

I was hoping there were clear rules

Well he is U14 and plays in England, I assumed obviously incorrectly that there were universal rules around deciding ladder positions.

When I played it was points first then percentage and in the unlikely event that this was also tied then it came down to results between the two teams.

Based on this post alone you are obviously not talking about basketball.

This site was the best source your "googling' efforts could come up with?

F%$ off then .... I won't be back

This forum is just a waste of space, BadNewRef you are just a wanker ... of course I was talking about basketball.

If you are only a ref then you never actually played the game or if you did you probably weren't good enough to cut it and gave up to make a "man" out of yourself.

I've found what I was looking for, just a shame that no-one here actually knows the rules.

We've given you your answer, you have to talk to who runs the league. We also don't deal in FEEBLE rules hardly at all here. If your league uses points scored and field goal percentages before head to head record, that is your first problem.

If you actually knew the rules of basketball, you would find this forum useful. Since you didn't find your answer of how your son will be the best basketball player ever, too bad, go somewhere else, we don't care.

And whats a wanker?
