rfp Are there differences in mechanics in 3-man officiating in NFHS and college? Specifically, are there differences in how officials switch after a foul is reported to the table?

There are quite a few mechanics differences in NFHS, NCAA-W, and NCAA-M. All three have pretty significant differences. That said, for foul reporting NFHS and NCAA-W are the same (go tableside when reporting), while NCAA-M go away from the table after reporting. NCAA-W uses 2-hand reporting, NFHS and NCAA-M use 1-hand.
rfp So in NCAA-M, if the L calls a foul and goes to the table to report and then goes opposite the table, how do the T and C move?
[deleted] rfp wroteSo in NCAA-M, if the L calls a foul and goes to the table to report and then goes opposite the table, how do the T and C move? Not that I've been afforded the opportunity as of yet, but I believe the L switches with whomever was opposite the table when the call was made.

rfp And if the calling official was opposite the table, he reports and then goes back to his same position and no one else switches?
M&M Guy rfp wroteAnd if the calling official was opposite the table, he reports and then goes back to his same position and no one else switches? Correct. I'm not sure how long you've been officiating, but in NCAA-M the mechanics are going back to what they were before "table-side" reporting was instituted 3 or 4 seasons ago. There are some other differences in areas of coverage between officials.

JRutledge rfp wroteAnd if the calling official was opposite the table, he reports and then goes back to his same position and no one else switches? Only if that official is the T and they stay the T. The L would still switch with the T. Peace
rfp If the calling official was the C and he was opposite, he'd go back opposite, right? Of course then he'd be the new T. But the non-calling officials would stay put, yes?
M&M Guy rfp wroteIf the calling official was the C and he was opposite, he'd go back opposite, right? Of course then he'd be the new T. But the non-calling officials would stay put, yes? Correct again, assuming the foul was in the front court and you are staying in the front court.

M&M Guy Scrapper1 wroteHuh. . . What if it's a shooting foul? He didn't say that, and I didn't assume that. 😉 He also didn't say if it was a technical foul, flagrant foul, intentional foul, common foul but in the bonus, team control foul...

JRutledge rfp wroteIf the calling official was the C and he was opposite, he'd go back opposite, right? Of course then he'd be the new T. But the non-calling officials would stay put, yes? It all depends on where the ball is going to be put and whether you are staying in the FC or the ball will be in the BC. Honestly rfp, the best advice you need to adhere to is go and buy the books and examine the differences that way. There are so many things that are asked of officials at different levels and different states, it is going to be very difficult to sort out all the differences on this forum. Many of the differences are subtle and can vary based on many factors even outside of what the book says. It is better that you purchase a copy of the CCA Book (Men or Women's) and decide what those are. And when you start talking about what side of college basketball and those mechanics that is a whole other issue. Peace
rfp OK, I guess I assumed (hoped?) the differences would not be so significant. I'm attending my first college camp this summer and don't want to look like a complete rookie since NFHS mechanics are what I know.

TussAgee11 Correct my mistake if I'm wrong as I don't have nearly as much experience as others... But doesn't FED want the lead outside on baseline throw-ins while NCAA wants you inside?
