I am so excited for this person.
The Illinois-San Diego St. NCAA Men's Tournament game had a first. The first ever women to officiate a Men's NCAA Tournament game (according to the Tim Brando). Melina Davis I think is her name. I could be totally wrong. It is about time. Good for her and good for the officiating community. If old gray haired men can officate D1, so can younger in shape women. This is a good day. Just wanted to share. Peace

For Brad.
I know I did not get this official's name correct. I know you guys post the names of the officials that work the NCAA Tournaments. Do you have more information on this official? What conferences does she work and where is she from. Of course this is if you have that information. I think this would be helpful to the rest of us to understand her road.
Peace

Melanie Davis
This is her name. She is from the New Orleans area. I did not catch how many years she has been officiating, I thought it was 13 years but I caught the very end of what Tim Brando said. Sorry, I have been flipping back and forth from the IHSA and the NCAA Tournament going on at the same time. I love this time of year.
Peace

More Info
She is from the SWAC Conference. This explains a lot to me.

Tomorrow, the NCHSAA will also have a first as a female official will work a boys state championship game. Teri Mohr has previously worked a women's state chanpionship, in 1997. Here's the link to a pretty good story.
