without looking in your rule books, or asking anyone, name the 5 correctable errors for nfhs basketball. I want to see how many people know them, on their own knowledge. My friend and I were talking about this the other night, and i am curious. thanks

Failure to award a merited FT
Awarding an unmerited FT
Shooting a FT at the wrong basket
Counting or cancelling a score
Allowing the wrong player to shoot a FT

Is that correct? I don't think that's the correct order but that's the best I can do. :)

Without the book, sounds right to me.

When I was in "training" to become a referee, our instructor put it this way: "Four of the five deal with free throws, and the other one is obvious. Don't try to complicate things."

I suppose when you think about, what all could really be correctable relative to a free through? Well, the four items mentioned above. The fifth (obvious) one is a scoring mistake - if the scorer just added wrong and forgot to hit the button, correct it.

Not quite - the scorer adding wrong falls under the bad bookkeeping clause, which is correctable at any time until the final score is approved.

Counting/cancelling is for when the ref screws up. For example, A1 commits BI at his own basket and the official signals to count the basket. This is correctable only within the scope of 2-10.
