I think this is right:

A team is trailing late in the game and coach is yelling "foul them!" as B is running out the clock (why they dont yell "red defense" or some other code is beyond me). A1, seeing what is about to happen and beyond the 3 point arch, takes the shot as he is intentionally fouled. Yep, ball went in. Award 3 points and 3 free throws?

note: that is what we did and yes, coach for A blew up and got his T. 8 points and possession for B

Nope!
Award 3 FTs if he misses the 3 pointer.
Award 2 FTs if he makes the 3 pointer.

FIBA:

3 pointer is good - 3 points, 1 free throw and possession.
3 pointer misses - 3 free throws and possession.

I'm wondering if you're working in one of those rec leagues where a T is an automatic two points, plus two shots plus the ball. If so, you would be correct if the 8 points came from the three shots for the intentional, two points for the T, and then two shots for the T, and they all went...

wait a minute, that's still only seven points...

how the heck did B get 8 points?

As BktBallRef pointed out, we incorrectly awarded 3 free throws instead of 2.
