Call the T: The Poll

Same sitch as men's championship game last night. Intense, close game with no attitude problems thus far. Player slams the ball on the court, clearly frustrated at himself. Ball bounces nearly to the ceiling.

Now imagine this is a high school varsity game on a regular Tuesday night.

You forgot the poll.

Anyway...nearly to the ceiling? That's not even close to what happened last night.

Should we be considering whether we are officiating the NCAA Championship game or a BV game on a Tuesday night?

see the first post.. i'm not sure how to get what i wanted in the first post above the poll...

While I don't do V games (yet), for me, nearly to the ceiling is much different than slamming it hard and catching it or missing it and having it bounce away.......

And for the record - while most of us have discussed some of our "T's" before, I have "rung up" several players, below the V level, for this very action over the past few yrs. Now, maybe I'll learn and adjust as I become more "seasoned" or maybe not. Time will tell.

true... but it did get a good 10-15 feet of air underneath it.

Given that ceilings must be at least 25 feet high, 15 feet is barely over 50%.

As I recall, every ceiling I've been to is way over 25 feet.

In HS, I talk to the kid.

I weighed in in the other thread..."T" will be served. "You know better than that...you're a varsity player".

Me too. And his coach, and that has always resolved it. If I have problems with the other coach with regard to this, I simply tell him that I've already given him some leeway in anther area because, unless were are just a minute or two into the game, I have.

So, 40 - 15 no T - roughly 73% to 27% (throwing out the 3 votes for "what bounce")

Interesting split. Be interesting to see the officiating "demographics " of those 15 as in do you work college, V, JV and how long you have officiated. (Not making a point, just curious if there is a common thread)
