Situation:
I was spectator for this game.
Team A coach get warning after complaining about every call from way out of the coaches box. Next time down the floor there is a foul on A1. B1 makes both FT, then coach B wants to put sub in for the T FT's. Officials did not allow it. I thought that any eligible sub could shoot the T's. Is there any situation where an eligible sub can't??

forgot to say coach A left box to protest the foul on A1 and got whacked.( he also got tossed a qtr later when he jumped up off the bench and onto the court to voice his displeasure over a non call)

The key is ELIGIBLE sub. Any person, either a player on the floor or a substitute on the bench can attempt the technical foul free throw(s) with the following exception. If A1 subs out before the T, and no time has run off of the clock, he is not eligible to shoot the free throws. Time must run off of the clock after he leaves before he is able to participate in any manner.

That was the only thing that I thought of too, and I am not sure if any substitutions were made before the T FT's

As I've been told at many a camp, you gotta pay attention to who goes out when a sub comes in!!! Great point on eligible sub.
