Wow. That's a hard one to miss. He didn't have a toe on the line. . . he had his heels on the line.

With the color of the paint and the reflection of the lights, it's really hard to see the line itself. From the camera angle, it's pretty easy to interpolate where the line is from the other parts of the arc. But I can imagine that all the official saw was the toes, and the key, and it looked like the toes were behind the line. Did anyone ever stop later and point out the mistake? I mean, there's no film of the opposing coach going all Molalla on the officials or anything. Even the announcers didn't notice that it was a mistake.

Yep. Perhaps the SEC definition of toe is a little bigger than the average? :eek:

Not saying it can't happen, but I've never had reflections prevent me seeing the line from where I stand as a referee. They would be more of an issue at the angle the camera is coming from. Plus the video quality is pretty poor, it being a YouTube video and all.

You're right that it's not likely, I"m just saying it's one possible explanation. I did one set of games that were in a college gym, but we were using the sideways courts. THey were done in a sort of tan paint. It was AWFUL. Really, really hard to see the lines. This isn't as bad as that, but still lines aren't that bright reflective white. The refs aren't "crappy" in the SEC, so there must be some other explanation. Lines being hard to see seems more reasonable to me than anything else.
