Regardless, it's gonna be an interesting weekend. Men's and women's both ought to be competitive and interesting.

She's got 5 days.

LSU won the regular season SEC with a 14-0 record, including a 78-62 win in Knoxville. Tennessee repaid the favor 61-55 in the finals of the SEC tournament. This is the rubber match.

UConn? Don't know much about them this season except my almost Shushevski-like hatred of Auriemma going back 10 years or so.

Are these the new college pants? Still beltless. A little more casual in style.

Do you remember an entire episode of "Tool Time" was about that subject? A repairman came to the Taylor's house and when he bent over, Tim remarked, "Whoa - you could mail a letter in that thing!"

One of the funniest TV lines ever.

Congrats to Memphis for making it to the title game. They really played well. Ben Howland has to take some of the blame for his game plan, however, which surprisingly featured not giving the ball to Kevin Love in the second half.

BTW - do they have a special rule for the Final Four in which they do not make 3 second calls? I saw players on both teams in the lane for 5 and 6 seconds on many occasions and there was one time with about 6 1/2 minutes to go when I counted a Memphis player in the lane for at least 9 seconds.

Some officials have a slow count, about 1-1/2 seconds. But I was watching and counting when one of the big Memphis guys was on the lane line for three+, but then stepped farther in and got whistled. Had he gone for a step away, it prolly woulda been no-called.

Final Four - 2nd National Semifinal

Is this score correct? Was UNC really down 20-or-so in the first half?

Also, did anyone else notice that the backboards don't have the new LED lights, but just the old-style red lightbulb?

BktBallRef Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:02pm

Down 28, cut it to 4, then let it get away again.

It was a heck of a comeback - for sure.

Had to throw this in. Remember - the first ever NCAA men's basketball tournament was won by the University of Oregon. The team that year (1939) was nicknamed by the press as the "Tall Firs". Of course, they haven't won since. :(

Want a lesson in frustration? Check this year's W-L records of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (mens) and Fordham University (womens).

I read that this was NJIT's first year as a D1 school. I wonder if they're going to stay at that level.

Vince Lombardi and the Big Tuna can't be too happy with that.

I went out of the chat room before the m&m commercial. Was that topic addressed while Chuck was still there?
