VA. State Tourney Appearance

Congrats to our own Ranjo. He' making an appearance in the Virginia Single-A D2 Girls championship game. But alas, not as a referree. He will be the ball boy as his wife has coached her team to the title game. :D

Randy, tell your better half congrats and good luck. Might see you up there as Kevin is working the Boys Single-A D1 championship game in front of yours.

Congrats to Ranjo's wife and her team. Here's hoping the T.C. Williams boys and the Forest Park girls team (both AAA) from Northern VA win titles.

I just got home from watching all six of the Friday's games.
1.) Floyd County did indeed look very good in beating George Mason.
2.) The Northern VA teams split last night. Forest Park lost to Heritage. TC Williams of "Remember the Titans" fame beat Bethel who were all dressed out in the personal gear of their famous graduate - Allen Iverson.
3.) The most interesting action of the day happened when game management removed the entire cheerleading squad from TC Williams from the floor for taunting the cheerleaders and the students from Bethel. They warned them once earlier in the game for the actions of two members of the squad. Then a couple of minutes into the 4th Q during a time out, the entire squad did an entire cheer facing their opponents. The cheerleaders were all escorted off the floor. And, a few minutes later several cheerleaders' outfits came flying out of the stands without the cheerleaders in them. I didn't see where game management found any of the culprits. Hopefully later it will all catch up to them. Williams won the game, but they didn't win the sportsmanship award.

Follow-up: We lost in the finals 64-50 to a very good Floyd County team. I believe it was their third try in as many years. However, the experience was great and the three women officials that worked our game were some of the best I had witnessed in the tournament. I was keeping some stats on the bench to make myself useful and after running some figures discovered that 50% of all the teams that played in the tournament lost! :D

Actually, 87.5% of them did. :D

And you guys were part of only 25% that made it to the final day. :)

75% of all statistics are made up and 95% of the people believe them anyway.
