Saw this pic from the Virginia State Tournament - I love the look on the ref's face - it appears he's heard this argument before.

Also looks like they're using the PTS timing devices. Any other state tourney guys on this board using these as well?

You're costing us the game! :p

JugglingReferee Thu Mar 13, 2008 01:28pm

We can play the caption game again...

I'll start:

Coach: Their point guard travels every time ref!

Referee pondering: Should I try to recruit him to the dark side?

grunewar Thu Mar 13, 2008 01:36pm

Coach: "Blah, blah, blah....."

Ref: "Wow, check out the girl in section 11, Seat 8."

PS - Colt, this is the coach of TC Williams, a local NVA Team.....and they won the game....so maybe his whining worked?

From Remember the Titans fame. They beat Petersburg, Moses Malone's high school. Based on pic 12 the "R" for this game was our HS board's interpreter.

For the championship TC Williams will be playing Bethel HS, the closest public HS to my j.o.b., and who last won state tourney in '93 with Allen Iverson and Tony Rutland in their backcourt.

Which by the way, wasn't too shabby of a backcourt! Iverson AND Rutland? Almost wasn't fair at the time!

Perhaps! ;)

I thought that TC Williams name was familiar...I just could not remember where I'd heard of it....

I know that Iverson went on to create Philadelphia Ink; who is Rutland? Did he go anywhere?

Tony Rutland was the #2 option at Wake Forest playing along side Tim Duncan.

Yeah, Rutland had a good career at Wake Forest. He played with Tim Duncan and I think Randolph Childress. Think a taller Stephen Curry with a little less quickness, but could shoot the lights out.

Guess I'm gonna need a bigger hat!!

Mark Padgett Thu Mar 13, 2008 04:58pm

Coach: How can you make a call like that?

Ref: Hmmm, I wish this guy would shut up. He's making it hard for me to concentrate. Now, let's see, should I have the tater tots or the onion rings with my T-bone on the way home?

just another ref Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:20pm

Coach: "Please let me out of the box just this once. I gotta go back to the concession stand. They shortchanged me."

Back In The Saddle Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:26am

Coach: C'mon, Ref. He's camping in there. Don't you see the pup tent, the camp fire and the smores? He's been in there since LAST YEAR'S PLAYOFFS! I know you're not blind. You gotta call that. He's killin' us...........

Ref: That's right, another couple of inches closer .... keep coming, an inch at a time....just one more step and you'll be out of the box and .....

Whack! Whack! To the moon, Alice.

I love my job.

MajorCord Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:10am

I've seen this official before. I thought he was out of the VA Beach area or Roanoke area. I think I remember him doing a state tourney game a couple of years ago at Robinson HS (Fairfax area).
