Announcer follies

Great, great game Rutgers v Seton Hall. Rutgers wins with a 3 at the buzzer.

Near the end, Rutgers up 2 and has throw-in at the endline, ball tipped, hits the bottom of the backboard which results in a held ball, Seton Hall has the arrow.

Mike Jaaaahvis, former D1 coach but currently just another jerk out of Bahston, tells his TV audience that Seton Hall got lucky, the ball should have been called dead when it hit the bottom of the backboard.

Oh my.

His brain should have been called dead when he made that statement.

Another Myth Bites The Dust ...

The front, top, sides, and bottom of the backboard are all in play. The ball cannot pass over a rectangular backboard from either direction. The back of a backboard is out of bounds as well as the supporting structures.

But, the rules are different for a "fan shaped" backboard. Casebook 7.1.2, Sit A.

Ah yes, Mike "The Magician" Jarvis. He took the reputation of St. Johns and their tradition of being the City team, and made 'em both completely disappear. He's exactly where he should be now and he fits in well.

Yep, that's the guy.

I hope he dies a long painful death.

Well, not too long.

But very painful.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the complaining about officials lately? (On television - by the commentators)

No. Two times infinity is still infinity.

Unless, it is a shot taken by UCLA to win the game against Cal.

I already used the trapezoidal reference in the thread about television sets. I didn't want to be redundant. I didn't want to be redundant.
