Halftime talks by coaches

Perhaps something the refs should not touch though. I was thinking of that Michigan coach and his rant. Can a ref give a T if it is out of hand. As a fan I've walked by the lockers and you can hear the coach screaming at the players. But if it is so loud that the fans in the gym can hear it and the refs on court watching warmups if one team is out there. I've had a few times where the teams have stayed on the court but off in a corner. If there talk is unsportsmanlike could a T be given? Or maybe if they are yelling how bad the refs are? I think I might give a T in that situation. But if it is closed doors and even if people can hear it should the refs just let that go?

I'm not touching anything the coach says during halftime in his/her own locker room.

If a coach is stupid enough to be cursing or complaining about the officials while still in the visual confines and within earshot of the officials, you're darn tootin' I'd whack them. T will be served.

Cursing would be one thing . . . saying something about the officiating, and it isn't directed at the officials . . . I am not touching that one. JMO

To whom he directs his comments is not relevant. Don't let a coach get by with unsportsmanlike behavior just because he's directing it to his players. "Johnny, don't worry, I know you didn't foul him. You're gonna just have to work harder than normal tonight since we're playing 5 on 7." That's a T.

If he's in the locker room and I hear it due to the proximity of my dressing area, I'm not worrying about it.
