Fanboy

My kid's school has big BV Sectional game tonight and I plan on being LOUD. I was thinking of going with "...you're missing a good game ref..." as my central motif, but may have to bring out "...call it both ways...". I will use these clever and damning phrases to sway the refs into giving my team an advantage. Thank you. See you at 6.

With a title like "Fanboy" and the remarks inside, there is no doubt in my mind that you are attempting to be funny. And you are. That's funny.

In that same humorous tone, I reply:

Too bad your son's team isn't good enough to win on their own.

Congrats and good luck to your son and his team.

I just hope you get Padgett as the ref. He'll get you tossed before the second quarter!

He wouldn't last anywhere near that long! BTW - my personal favorite is "Hey ref. I found your cell phone. Know how I know it's yours? It's got 10 missed calls!" :D

A couple of weeks ago a high school girl sitting in the second row dropped her cell phone and it bounced off the bleachers and onto the court right in front of me. It was during a live ball (in transition) so I grabbed it, handed it to her and continued officiating. Before the start of the next quarter I turned to her (she was sitting directly at mid court) and said while smiling, "I might have missed a call or two but was it necessary to throw your phone at me?" She blushed and said she didn't mean too. A guy two rows behind her said "Her phone showed 8 missed calls not 2." The guy was saying it as a joke and we had a good laugh. :D

Halftime...refs walking to locker room. "...while you're in there send out the GOOD refs...".

Anyone else feel deja vu here?

(I have to admit, I was really expecting a padlock)

Me, too. I like this solution better. Thanks, Brad (or Bob or Mick).

That has to have been the most overused joke of the season.
