Question #2 - What exactly is the ruling when the ball hits the top of the backboard on a shot? I always have thought it was still in play as long as it doesn't go behind the backboard, but have seen it called differently at different times.

To elaborate further, there are 6 sides to a backboard only the backside is OOB. If a fan shaped backboard is used, the ball going completely over the top w/out touching anything is still live. Same senario with a rectangle board is OOB.
