Throw in question.
A1 is inbounding the ball and B1 is facing her on the throw in. After the ball is administered to A1 for the throw in B1 starts to count out loud. She's not screaming just calmly counting out loud.
Legal or illegal? |

mu4scott - I think it all depends on her reason for the verbal count. When she gets to five is she wanting you to call the violation or does she continue to count past five to rush the thrower into a bad throw?
If she is attempting to "assist" you in your five second count, I believe that is unsporting. I would probably let her &/or her coach know that is not appropriate & any further related action will be penalized accordingly. Just my opinion though... |
I agree and that's what I did. Except I said STFU *****. :)
Her response to me is that her coach teaches them to do this to alert her fellow team members that when the count gets to four the ball is going to be coming out. I tell her she's still not going to do it, but I don't know that it's illegal. |
She's is not doing any of this in an unsportsmanlike manor. A very calm count loud enough for her players to hear.

Penalty: 2 FTs & the ball at half court opposite the table for the offended. |
Tell her coach that every time she yells out numbers, you lose track of your five-second count and have to start over. ;)
