2 Man crews in New Jersey?

I saw the St Anthony vs. Americian Christian game on espn last night and noticed that only 2 guys were on the game. Is this common for N.J.? Even if it is, that game had 8.... yes eight d-1 players on the floor. Why wouldn't the game management have added a 3rd ref.? any thoughts??

I was wondering the same thing. Also noticed:

1) Never saw a hand go up to kill the clock on a violation, but they did chop the clock when the ball was inbounded so i dont think they had PTS.

2) The rim would have to be adjusted after a dunk

3) Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like the trail was always closing down really far causing the ball handler to be between him and half court. It's a college floor, probably longer so maybe they just go to the 28 foot mark every time. I dont know.

Very odd they didn't have a 3 person crew.

I was very surprised also to see a nationally televised game between inter-state opponents being officiated by a 2-whistle crew.

You would think a program like St. Anthony's that is raking in a lot of TV money, and in this case playing on a D1 basketball court, would ensure that there are 3-whistles in all their games.

That being said the little bit a did watch I didn't see any plays that were blatantly missed by the 2-man crew.

I watched also and was surprised to see two man crew....I have to agree with you that they did a really strong job as a two man crew. Some great play also....

I thought one guy might have pulled a muscle or something...very odd as previously mentioned that there were only two officials.

I also remember saying to a fellow official while watching the game last night that they were really letting them play.
