Disconcertion or "Toss'em"

Wonder what the call is on this play?

I only know NFHS rules. If this were a high school game, they should have gone to the AP arrow since the whistle was blown while the ball was in flight, with neither team having team control.

It's good to see young people preparing to be referees.

But if the free throw went in, wouldn't POI be an endline throw-in, as after a made basket?

Why disconcertion? Toss who? I can't see that there was any foul or even any contact at all.

The B player puked on the court. With physiological situations, I got nuttin' usually. Here I might have a re-throw.

The only thing was the player was trying to puke on the ref's shoes and missed! Bad aim.

I can understand treating vomit with the care it deserves and the whistle was blown after the shot, before the rebound so the crew didnt disconcert the shooter.

Can you imagine if the lead slow whistled the play and the rebound went out there to the vomit area and some players fell in it? A 3:00 delay would have been a 20 minute delay as the affected players would have had to get the Silkwood Shower treatment.

I wonder what made him puke.

Prolly some cajun sauce.

Glad to help.

BTW - I've never had a kid puke on the court during a game but I did have a kid once who's nose just started bleeding while he was waiting at the table to check in. He hadn't been in the game yet, so it couldn't have been from previous contact on the court. They put a towel on his nose, took him to the locker room and he didn't return to the court. I never did find out what happened.

Oh yeah, he got blood on the score table.

By Rule 11-1, a substutute scorer's table is allowed to be used if both officals and coaches are properly notified. No penalty.

I guess somebody missed the play on the phrase "tossing one's cookies".

I think this is most definitely a situation where the official can pretty much use judgement to rectify the situation as needed, if the vomit situation in the official's judgement caused a missed FT, award another. If you judge that the missed FT was in no way related to the vomit then go AP, and if it was a made FT just go POI on the made FT.

I had one just a couple of weeks ago. Just before halftime, H is playing a zone defense and the forward charges out to the corner like he's going out on a three point shooter. Only he just keeps on truckin'. He made it almost to the locker room door before he lost it all over the floor.

V team made a basket on the "power play." I blew it dead after the basket so H could sub in another player. It was an odd situation, but I figured I should probably treat it like an injury. (V team was advancing on the basket at the time). Looking back I wonder if it would have been better to call a violation for leaving the floor, allowing the H team to sub immediately instead of playing short-handed.
