Airborn shooter NCAA

NCAA Rules: Airborne Shooter Player A shoots ball and after release crashes into defensive Player B who has legal guarding position. Basket goes in.

How do you administer this situation?

Basket counts bc contact after release (NCAA rules)

Player A charged with personal foul.
Is this foul a player control foul?
Is this foul a common foul (push)?
Will fouled Player B shoot free throws if in the bonus?

NCAA men- Basket scores, player charged with foul, if in bonus 1+1
NCAA Women[ just loke NFHS...

Editorial... I think the NCAA men ought to fix the rule. It is the only set of rules that allows a shooter to score and then crah into player and not have it taken away...

It used to be this way in NFHS rules. Everybody's happy. One coach gets a basket, and the other coach, maybe, gets some foul shots. Not the life and death situation, according to some coaches, that some player control fouls seem to take on now.

But I do like the newer version of the NFHS rules. Give me those life and death calls. I'm ready. Bring those coaches into my gym. Only one of us will leave the cage alive. Wait a minute. I'm confusing this with Ultimate Fighting. Sorry. Never mind.

Actually, this also happens in FIBA.

14.3 Team control ends when

- an opponent gains control.
- The ball becomes dead.
- the ball has left the player's hand(s) on a shot for a field goal or a free throw.
