Automatic T?
I worked a game last night....at halftime there was a crazy scramble for a loose ball...it got tied up after a mini-scrum, and then the buzzer went off. We went to halftime, and as we went to the center circle, one of my partners was talking to a girl on the other team--clearly he was not happy, but I didn't think much of it.
At the end of the game, it came back up, and when I asked him what the girl said, he told me she yelled "Call the F----- foul!" I was stunned. I would T this up ten times out of ten. I think some people are too worried about rankings, or moving up, or coaches, and don't stick to the basics...like sportsmanship, or decency. **off soapbox** Any thoughts? |

Did your partner give you any valid reasons for NOT calling the T?? Seems like a pretty easy one to me, and not really anything the coach can say to defend the player...so I'm just wondering why your P didn't call it??

Holy Crap. Absolutely give a T for that. People really need to understand that it's ok to give them out. Don't look for them, but if they cross the line and it gets personal or profane, it's almost irresponsible not to.

T???? That kind of display, if directed at either myself or one of my partners wouldn't just merit a T, it would be an automatic ejection (followed in Ohio by paperwork and a two game suspension for the player) for a flagerant foul.
There is no place for that kind of behavior on the court. Then, in the locker room, I would really crawl all over my partner for being gutless. |

Yep... I go with the george carlin method..
the 5 words you cant say on tv... also apply to the basket ball court.. that goes for coach or player. I did let a player off the hook for saying DAMN.. but thats because she was mad at herself. I called the foul, and she looked and me and smiled and said "damn I knew it" thats the worst language I've seen yet.

I was frustrated for sure, but did not crawl all over him. I probably should have made a bigger deal, but I had already made a big deal over a non-intentional foul could in the first half by my other partner.
Girl stole the ball, I became the new lead and took off to beat her, he called a foul. At halftime he asked if we saw it, I said no--he said after the girl stole the ball, the former dribbler then reached out and grabbed a handfull of shirt from behind. Again, shocked he didn't call the intentional and kept asking why. He and the other guy both had seen it...and said she let go right away (as if that made it not intentional). Anyhow, I told him that was a textbook definition of an intentional foul and it should have been called. Honestly, I think they were too afraid of the coach getting mad and I realized it just wasn't going to happen. Oh well. I can't change everybody. However, I think most people in here would have called that intentional and also would have T'ed her up. I just like to ask from time to time to make sure I am not the crazy one. |
