Often true and unfortunate.

I had an excellent Rec B10U game last night. Nail biter. Surprisingly well played.

4th Quarter, during foul shots I had to walk over to one of the dads near the basket who had been "chirping" for much of the night and fairly quietly tell him I had heard enough. His wife slugged him on the arm and told him to be quiet...... He was embarrassed and got my point that he was getting close to crossing the line from cheering, fan/parent to overzealous, irritating parent!

Hope he made it up to his wife today with a nice Valentine's gift.

Scott free?? Not exactly. From what I read, he's banned from the school, and the case was forwarded to the D.A.'s office for review.

Exclamation

But there was no indication that he was upset about the officiating! Go figure.

This brings up a point for refs and administrators to talk about. I've heard of something similar and a mistake for administrators in these situations is to try to do anything physical with the guy if he won;t leave with just verbal warnings. On this one it might have been better to clear the gym and call the police or let game security handle it. Hindsight I know but thinking about it here you have a guy who is loopy enough (either just mad, drugged or drunk) to walk himself out onto the floor during a game. You have to ask yourself what in the world are we dealing with? If this or something similar happens one thing to do might be to go to the coaches and direct to get their kids out of the gym immediately. At that point you do not know what you're dealing and what the guy will do next. It could be something very dangerous. If he's this nuts he's just nuts enough to go further. Something to think and talk about anyway. jmo.

Fortunately here in Texas a policeman is at the school for most ISD games which usually deters this type of behavior.
