Yeah yeah yeah...

Good game this afternoon, both teams already made post season but they really don't like each other. Home pulls out the win despite a T against their HC.

After the game I wander back down before my shower to hand in our paperwork. Teams & coaches long gone, some table folk and the clean up crew still there. Announcer sees me and says good game... in fact you might be the best ref I've seen all year.

I'm the type who can take a compliment with grace, so I tell him yeah yeah yeah go f@ck yourself...make sure you're sitting with the coach when he fills out his ratings.

:)

You really gave him the @ sign? How in the world did you pronounce it?

If you actually said it, that will be the last time you work there.

Did you take a picture for your scrapbook?

I will revise my remark to say it should be the last time you work there.
1) Because it's unprofessional and, while it may enhance your self-esteem, had no other value.
2) Why would the school want you back? You think the HC or AD didn't get a call after you left?

Officials have enough trouble building reputations (individually and collectively), why add to the perception that we're jerks?

OK, at least we agree it's just your opinion. Maybe next we'll agree that it's possible that your opinion is based on incomplete knowledge of the situation and the people who were actually involved and is at best ill-informed and highly worthy of disregard.

It's pronounced "at". So the word must have sounded like "fatck".

Keep Away From Dressing Room, Please ...

Many years ago, as a junior varsity official, I stayed to watch the varsity game, and went into the dressing room to pick up my bag after the varsity game. As I'm exchanging pleasantries with the varsity officials, the winning, visiting, coach, sticks his head in the door of the dressing room and says, in a nonsarcastic tone, "Nice game guys". One of the varsity officials replies, in my opinion, very unprofessioinally, but honestly, considering this coaches usual attitude, "I bet you wouldn't be saying that if you lost?". It took both me, and the other varsity official, to physically separate them to keep them from killing each other.

Bottom line for officials: Always try to act professionally.
Bottom line for coaches: No matter how good your intentions are, stay away from the dressing room after the game.

This is true.

The fine citizens of MA had difficulty mastering the pronunciation of that work (fah t K) so the dropped the t sound completely.... as in "find a spaht to pahk the facking cah already ya losah..."

I didn't realize that hell was just north of Boston. I always thought that Charlestown was just north of Boston.
