in california when no coaches are on the bench, because of ejection, its a forfeit. However in lower level games I dont think I would forfeit a team, if "an assisstant" happens to show up late to the game, after the ejection.

A couple years ago I was working a girl's freshman game - it was the last game of the season for both teams. There were no other games at the gym that night. No problems the whole game. Late in the 4th quarter (less than a minute to play), Team A is ahead handily (6 point lead), and has the ball in their front court. I'm trail table-side and there's a scrum for a loose ball on the baseline table side. My partner slides over table-side on the baseline and makes an out of bounds call and gives the ball to team B. There are maybe 8 seconds left in the game. He's won. He starts to chip about the out of bounds call. My partner just looks up and repeats "B ball". The coach looks at my partner, puts his hand to his throat making a choking gesture and my partner whacks him. As my partner is walking to the table to report, coach repeats the choking gesture. My partner whacks him again and he's tossed.

A couple parents come down from the stands to take over since there is no assistant coach on the bench. As my partner is administering the free throws, coach of Team B asks me to come over. She quietly asks me if either of the parents who just took over as coaches is certified by the state to coach. I say I don't know but I'll find out. So as I'm walking over to the A bench, I'm hoping that one of these guys just answers "yes" and we'll play on. Not my job to verify that they're certified. Of course they answered "no" and no one else in the gym was certified to coach. Game over. Up by 6 with 8 seconds to go, then they lose by forfeit because the coach was an idiot. What a way to end the season.

how do they prove they are "registered" -- i wouldnt even get into that -- i would just let the game end and the visiting coach can file a petition if she wants. Unless they carry membership cards and you are required to check all coaches -- thats not your responsibility.
