22 games in 7 days Crazy or Not?

I ended up doing 22 games this past week. Really I don't feel to bad. Left knee is a little sore but what else do I expect.

I have six varsity games in five days this week and I feel like it's a bit much.

I especially feel this way after working on a Tartan floor Saturday night as my knees and back are a bit sore. First time I worked on such a floor since the last time I was at that school (and that night Bob Jenkins and I (along with our third) got police escorts from the place).

Many do not realize what a big trouble maker that Jenkins guy is.

Ask Steve Welmer what he does to recoup.

The number of games you personally do has been discussed on the board before. Some refs are younger and in better shape than others, love doing games, and some are just a glutton for punishment.

I'm not as young as I used to be (of course, none of us are) and I did nine Rec games a few weekends ago (Sat and Sun) and was a bit tired and stiff on Monday. I've seen stories on this Forum of some refs who've done 7/8/9 games a day!

How well you do can depend on your conditioning, the age of the players, level of play, size of the gym, half court set games vs run and gun games, etc.

Bottom Line - If you sign up for 22 games in a week, you get what you ask for - and hopefully, you're still giving your best (same level) effort in the last game as in the first. If you can do it.....more power to you!

Working like that is a great way to learn. I think all of us went through that type of schedule. I have a lower level triple header (to help out an assignor), a V double header, college women's, college men's, and a 1 game V date this week. That's enough for me at this time of year. Early on officials need game experience. Sounds like you're getting it.

I'm older than I once was and younger than I'll be. That's not unusual.

I'm not the man I used to be. Then again, I never was.

And as you get older, you'll get shorter too. It's the accumulating effect of gravity acting on your spinal cord.

It's true, it's true......

Btw, Chuck Elias is 214 years old.

Star Wars... another classic that Shakespeare didn't appreciate.

After last night it'll be a while before he shows his face in public again... he's too busy wiping the tear drops off his spy-cam.
