Just a good game...

Ever have those? I had two 1-6 (district records) duke it out tonight to see who was gunna break the tie for last place. 2 point ball game with a buzzer shot. Had 2 other co-officials who were good, and we just flowed with the game. No stupid calls, one technical for a kid who got stupid, but just a good game! I hadn't had one of these in a while.

I had one last night, even though it was a 40 point blow out, it was still a great game. :D

Last night was a good night for games, apparently. I had a 3-man game last night that went great. Hadn't had one for a couple of weeks, but got into the flow right away. It helped that I had 2 top officials on the game with me and I learned a lot. No stupid kid, though.

I'm hoping for two amazing games in early March. ;)

I was fortunate last night too. B8 religious schools. Quality of ball is usually less than stellar in this league, but this was ok. A has three very tall players and B has all the scrappy short guards. No way B would be able to play a half-court set against A's big-boys. But, the little-guys played with a lot of heart, weathered the initial storm, and eventually won by 10 going away. Good attitudes. Good coaches. Good night! :)

PS - I AM choosing to forget the the first game. G8, same schools. I think we blew the whistle about every 6-7 seconds......no flow at all. Ouch, I'm remembering now!

Just wanted to jump in and add that I had a great one Friday night. Boys V game that was athletic, up and down, and clean. Didn't get into the bonus in the 1st half, second half both teams did but not until OT for H, and double OT for V! Great, competitive, and clean game.

Girls V game prior, however, had 61 fouls, 3 intentionals, a technical, and a scrum between both teams on the court after the game. Sheesh.

I'll jump in with my good Friday night game (up in the UP, Mick). Boys JV/V double-header. When I got to the school I found out that none of the officials on the crew had worked with each other before. JV game went good, had a few kinks but overall was a good game.

When the V game came around the three of us looked like we had been working together for years. Very physical game, everything with us clicked, no T's, and the coaches really didn't have anything to complain about. We had a special treat in the second quarter, one of the Visiting players scored his 1,000th career point. The Home coach was very supportive and even gave permission to stop the game so this kid could be honored, which I thought was a very classy move.

I enjoyed doing that game so much that when I got home I gave my wife a big hug and said thank you for letting me do this. I was still thinking about what a great game that was when I woke up on Saturday.

These kind of games are the reason I ref.

Acee -- good to hear that you finally had a good game. I mean, it is the last week in January -- there is not much time left!!! :)
