The Redhead returns - slightly off topic

Just like most states, Oregon has some statewide elections coming up this November 3 (my birthday, btw). One of our state senators, Rick Metzger, is running for Secretary of State. He used to be a sportscaster on the local CBS television station. In today's newspaper, there was a story that Rick has asked his old buddy, Bill Walton, to come up here from San Diego and campaign for him. The two worked together broadcasting some games back in the 80s. Walton said he can't wait to get back into politics.

Yikes - just what we need up here. Some ex-jock from California telling us what's best for our government positions. As much as I admired Walton as a player, I'm not sure I give him any credibility on these types of issues.

Maybe I'll send Senator Metzger one of those bumper stickers that are so popular up here - "Don't Californicate Oregon".

Mark, you're typing into the wrong window. Go to the one that sez "Daily Koz".

Anybody who thinks that sentences like "If they want to win this game, they're going to have to get the ball in the basket" are worth broadcasting on national TV, probably isn't going to have much to add to our very sophisticated and nuanced political discussion. I used to have a terrible crush on Walton back when I was a giggly schoolgirl, but that was definitely not based on his politics or even his personality. Can't imagine what he has to contribute to a political campaign besides money

I think you mean "Daily Kos". The "Daily Koz" has something to do with astrology, which is based on an even higher level of bull$hit than politics, if that's possible.

J.R. has for awhile gone by Isiah. He recently got arrested for parole/probation violation, I think in Oakland. :)

Is your post a correction of my typo? I thought the mods declared that spelling/grammar corrections are strictly forbidden? I fully expect them to issue a sternly worded warning and to closely monitor your posts to ensure you adhere to the new rulings...or maybe that's cruel and unusual punishment for the mods?

I admit to being shallow in that era of my life, but I certainly WASN'T a woman, nor even a wimman. I've matured to thinking too much and taking myself way too seriously.
