QF1Y: One more... substitutions after final free throw or a made basket.
Not sure why there is a void between my ears on this one.
Player A1 is shooting the 2nd of two. Player A6 reports and will sub for shooter. Everything is groovy. Understand this, very common. All good. How about Player A1 is shooting 2nd of two. I'm lead, after A1 given the ball, Player B6 reports to table. Try is good. I have a substitute, dead ball and stopped clock. I'm blowing my whistle and getting B6 into the game, right? They don't have to report early... that is just a common scenario. A good table would notify after the made FT that there was a substitute, even if it was late arriving B6, yes? Also, during play... after a made basket I am NOT calling substitutes in because even though we have a dead ball, we do NOT have a stopped clock. Yeah that's the ticket! I actually prefer this rule. Too many coaches at the NFHS and NCAA level use it to break the flow of the game and allow time to set up their full court press. |
