Selecting state series officials

what's the fairest way to select state series officials from your organization, when so many want to go?

There is no "fairest" way. Any way you select people, there are always going to be others that are not happy with the results.

Peace

And there are always going to be qualified people who are not selected, simply because there are so many good officials and so few tournament spots.

The process is always going to be subjective (even if it's based on ratings), so there's no way to ensure a "right" outcome.

This always comes down to: If "I" get selected, it's fair; if "I" don't get selected, it's not fair.

I think it's also based off of familiarity.

There's no perfect system.

Even if you have politics someone is going to not get picked that would do just as well of a job or better. Like someone said earlier, all systems have a subjective element to them. Whether the coaches do ratings, whether the state office assigns, whether you have evaluators at every game and they decide who works the post season, someone is going to be upset or think they were not given a fair shot.

Peace
