Wearing the correct color undershirt under the uniform jersey.

Over the weeked I was perusing such sports sites as ESPN, SI, and Fox Sports and I came upon a picture taken during the Washington State at Gonzaga game played on Dec. 05th. I was suprised to see that one of the WSU players was wearing a white undershirt with sleeves that went down to his elbows under his very dark red sleeveless jersey. I am sure that this a direct violation of NCAA R3-S5-A11, which states:

An undershirt is considered to be part of the game jersey and must be
a color similar to that of the game jersey. In addition, the sleeves and neckline of undershirts shall be unaltered. (e.g., no cut-off sleeves or cut necklines). Both sleeves shall be of the same length and not extend beyond the elbows. No logos, decorations, trim, commemorative patches, lettering or numbering may be used on an undershirt. An illegal undershirt shall not be worn.

I checked the box score to see who the officials were for the game, they were Rick Batsell, Tim Gabutero, Randy Burkhart. Does anybody know if this was a PAC-10 crew or a West Coast Conference crew. I was very suprised to see a blatant violation of the rules.

In games such as the one in question, the two conference supervisors usually assign officials who work in both conferences.

PS Unload some of your old PMs, so that I can send you a new one!

Probably from neither considering that most college officials at the D1 level work for multiple conferences. Whoever the home team is likely had their conference assign the game. Not always the case, but likely.

I think those three officials might be in both conferences. I'm 100% sure Gabutero is in the Pac and I think the others are too.

I know Rick and I have met Randy and they both work the PAC and WCC. I believe Tim does as well.

Officiating is assigned the same way across the country. It is not a West Coast, Midwest or East coast thing. You work for whoever assigns you. This means you have the opportunity to work for multiple college conferences at one time as an official. Basketball is not football where you only work for one conference all year and you only see other teams outside of your conference when you work non-conference games.

If you are going to call someone a name, at the very least educate yourself with the process. I think I know quite a bit more than you on this issue. Just the fact you said, "How it is done out west" is a sign you are in over your head.

Peace

None of us talked to the officials, we have no idea. You will have to talk to them and find out. Maybe they did not care.

Thats all well and good, but tell that to the officials who have a H.S. coach b**th and moan when the officials do their job and do not let his player wear an illegal undershirt.
